    • A treatment delivery system includes one or more medical therapy delivery devices (34) which deliver medical treatment or therapy to a patient, and one or more medical devices (10) which monitor results of the delivered medical therapy or treatment, clinical information, laboratory information, and health record information. The medical treatment delivery device has a proprietary communications protocol. A medical therapy delivery controller (18) semantically communicates among the medical device(s) and one or more medical treatment delivery devices. The controller has a user input (32) by which a user inputs therapy objectives in other than the proprietary communications protocol and a control processor (26) which generates treatment delivery device control commands, receives treatment or therapy results from a medical device (10), and adaptively adjusts the control commands based on the received treatment results. The control processor accesses a clinical decision support system (41), determines a physiological state of the patient from the received treatment results, and adjusts one of the therapy objectives and the control commands in accordance with input from the clinical decision support system.

    • A method for paging/finding a wireless patient-monitoring device in a WLAN network includes the steps of determining the status of a radio module (RM) (117) of one or more wireless monitoring devices comprising one of a Patient-Wearable Device (PWD) (115a,115b) and a Patient-Monitoring Device (PMD) (110a,110b) that are adapted for dual-communication with one of or more Access Points (104,106) and a central-monitoring station in a WLAN. The overall status of the PWD/PMD can be a plurality of meta-states including standby, inactive, active, sleep. After the status is determined, there is a selection of a particular PWD/PMD for receipt of wireless transmission of a signal that is adapted for changing a meta-state of the device to a desired state if the current state of the particular wireless monitoring device is not the desired state. An audial-code function of the particular wireless monitoring device is activated by transmitting an instructional signal to the particular wireless patient-monitoring device to emit a predetermined first audial-code that can be heard at least by a patient being monitored by the particular PWD/PMD, so that the patient is instructed to contact the nurse's station. Alternatively, or in addition thereto, a second audial tone may be broadcast that is emitted at a volume loud enough to permit a clinic or facility personnel to walk around and locate the device by the sound.

    • An emulation Access Point, method and system for providing an Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) for transmission between a wireless device and a remote client on a wired Local Area Network (LAN) includes a protocol stack having a wireless device radio module adapted for communication with the wireless device. An emulation Access Point is adapted for communication with the wireless device radio module, and an Access Point Controller is adapted for communication with both the Access Point and a remote client. The emulation Access Point includes a Gateway Translation function (GTF) module that is adapted for receiving data from the wireless device radio module, the data being transmitted in a local protocol by a local protocol receiving unit, and translating the data to a standard protocol by the standard protocol unit that is transmitted to the remote client. The remote client sees an emulated wired device on the LAN instead of a wireless device from a WLAN. The emulation Access Point, while being adapted to receive a streamlined PWD, is also adapted to be permit communication from conventional PWDs to the remote client, so that hospitals, etc., won't have to completely replace their PWDs all at once.
