A transmitting device (100) receives a filter definition (135) defining a filter type for use in filtering of the notification messages. When a 5 notification is to be sent notification input data (145) is received and filter elements (175) are determined. 摘要： Broadcast data is transmitted in first time slices. Event data is transmitted in second time slices, wherein a predetermined number n-1 of consecutive second time slices is redundant. Therefore a receiver receiving such a broadcast need only receive one of n slices of event data. Therefore when the receiver is in standby mode, it need only be activated to receive 1 in n of second time slices to receive event data. Therefore the receiver is deactivated for a longer period, thus saving power consumption.

摘要： A device and a method for managing power consumption of a plurality of data processing units. A scheduler (280) schedules a first process step for a first data processing unit (200) consuming a high power within a first deadline and a second process step for a second data processing unit (240) also consuming a high power within a second deadline. The scheduler further schedules the first process step and the second process step such that the two process steps do not occur concurrently thereby reducing the peak power draw from a power supply whilst preserving deadlines. This is particularly beneficial in battery-operated equipment, such as portable electronic multimedia devices, since peak power drain has been found to be an important factor in determining the battery capacity.

The portable streaming device (100) comprises at least one memory (102), at least one processing unit (101), and at least one storage device (103) being operatively connected with said memory (102) under control of said processing unit (101). The size of a disk scheduler buffer memory within said memory in said portable streaming device is adaptively maximised by said method (2) at all times. Free memory available within the portable streaming device is continuously allocated (50) and at least a portion of said allocated free memory is designated as disk scheduler buffer memory (60). Thus results improved solid state memory utilisation of the portable streaming device, and due to larger available disk buffer memory size, less start-stop-cycles of the storage device are initiated, which leads to a longer life-cycle of said portable streaming device.
