    • A system for providing order book state includes an exchange data interface to receive order data from an electronic exchange system. The order data is representative of orders at the electronic exchange system for an instrument. The system further includes a converter to convert order data into order event data by applying any rule used by the exchange system to execute the orders and instructions to compile the order event data into computed order books. Each computed order book is a representation of an actual order book for the instrument at the exchange system at a respective time. The system further includes an analyst interface to output representations of the computed order books.

    • Input data can be split into data components that can each have a length equal to a machine word size of a processor capable of parallel processing. Hash components can be selected to have a length equal to the length of the data components. A bitwise hashing function can be performed, in which each data component is hashed with a respective different one of the hash components. A representation of the hash components can be output as the hash. The bitwise hashing function can include an exclusive-or operation and a multiplication and can be a modified Fowler-Noll-Vo hashing function, such as a modified FNV-1a function.

    • A writing application on a computing device can reference a tail pointer to write messages to message buffers that a peer-to-peer data link replicates in memory of another computing device. The message buffers are divided into at least two queue segments, where each segment has several buffers. Messages are read from the buffers by a reading application on one of the computing devices using an advancing head pointer by reading a message from a next message buffer when determining that the next message buffer has been newly written. The tail pointer is advanced from one message buffer to another within a same queue segment after writing messages. The tail pointer is advanced from a message buffer of a current queue segment to a message buffer of a next queue segment when determining that the head pointer does not indicate any of the buffers of the next queue segment.

    • The present invention provides a novel system and method for executing orders. In an embodiment, a system for executing orders includes a communications gateway through which orders and intents can be passed to an internalization engine. The internalization is operable to maintain intents anf compare them with incoming orders, and with market feeds of best bid offers, in order to match up certain incoming orders with intents from the same firm in accordance with market rules. Where no match is made, the order is passed to a trading engine, also connected to the communications gateway, so that the order can be processed in the usual manner. Where a match is made, an appropriate portion of the intent is paired with the order and a trade notification is sent to the trading engine for processing in the usual manner.

    • Electronic submissions, such as those for capital markets, are processed by evaluating the data contained in the electronic submissions against failure conditions. The failure conditions may include a static failure condition and a scalar failure condition. The static failure condition identifies a data element that is to be present or absent for the static failure condition to be met. The scalar failure condition identifies data that is to conform to an inequation for the scalar failure condition to be met. The electronic submission can be approved upon completion of the evaluation when all failure conditions are not met. The electronic submission can be thus approved with no human analyst intervention or review needed. When one or more failure condition is met, the electronic submission requires further analysis. Specific advantageous failure conditions are discussed. Feedback can be employed to increase approvals that trigger no failure conditions.
