    • The invention relates to methods and devices for supporting backhaul selection in a wireless communication network (100). A first radio base station (102) has access to a first backhaul path (112) through an out-of-band interface and to a second backhaul path (132), via a second radio base station (101), through an in-band interface. According to a method, a network entity (102, 120) sends, to the second radio base station (101), a request for available capacity on the second backhaul path (132) for backhauling of the first radio base station (102). The second radio base station derives a total available capacity from an estimate of available capacity for backhauling on a backhaul path (111) from the second radio base station (101) to a core network (110) and from an estimate of available capacity for backhauling on the in-band interface (131) and signals the total available capacity to the network entity (102, 120). The network entity (102, 120) selects backhaul path based on the received information on the total available capacity.

    • The invention relates to resource allocation in communications systems (1). In such a system (1), the pool of resources that can be provided to connected user equipment (400, 410) for usage in conducting communications services are divided into multiple resources classes. This class division is based on a characteristic allocation time of resource allocation procedures that can be applied on resources of the different classes. For each class, a resource utilization measure is determined. It is then determined, based on this measure, whether or not a resource allocation procedure associated with the current class should be triggered. This selective triggering can be realized through a comparison between the measure and a threshold associated with the current class.
