    • The present invention relates to a broadband access node (10) adapted to provide end users with access to services over communication channels. It comprises admission control means for controlling end user admission to resources, which comprise policy decision and enforcement function means comprising first and second information holding means (Hi, H2) for holding information about current available transmission capacity of the access node on the uplink, and the downlink respectively, third information holding means (H3) for holding information about current maximum performance of the access node. Service related information holding means are provided for, for each service or group of services, providing information about capacity and performance service requirements of the respective services. It further comprises availability establishing means for establishing if the service requirements of a requested service fulfil a given condition or conditions in relation to current available uplink/downlink capacity and current available performance capability of the access node if granted, and decision means for, based on the outcome of the establishment grant or reject an end user resource request.

    • The present disclosure relates to methods, a system and an apparatus for detection of load balancing in a packet-switched communication network (10). According to an embodiment a plurality of test sessions(22, 23, 24, 25) are initiated, which differ with respect to at least one associated parameter value for a source address, a destination address, a source port, a destination port, or a protocol. Load detection in the packet-switched communication network (10) can be detected based on differences between measurement results (28) of different test sessions (22, 23, 24, 25) of the plurality of test sessions. Situations where one network path is measured, while application traffic (21) takes another unmeasured network path can be avoided by setting-up multiple simultaneous test sessions (22, 23, 24, 25) with differing parameter values such that the test sessions are routed differently by any hash algorithms(19a, 19b, 19c, 19d) used for load balancing across network paths.

    • Apparatus for performing load balancing among network servers connected to an internal IPv6 network. The apparatus comprises a first interface coupled to an external IPv4 or IPv6 network for receiving packets sent across the external network and an IP packet creator coupled to said first interface. This IP packet creator is configured, for each received packet at that interface, to select a network server to be allocated to the packet or identify an already allocated network server. The IP packet creator is further configured to create a corresponding IPv6 packet for transmission over said internal network to the selected or identified network server, including performing the following tasks: (a) include the source IP address of the received packet in the source IP address field of the IPv6 packet header, (b) include at least a part of the destination IP address field of the received packet in the destination IP address field of the IPv6 packet header, and (c) include an address of the selected or identified network server into the destination IP address field of the IPv6 packet header, The apparatus further comprises a second interface coupled to said internal IPv6 network for transmitting created IPv6 packets across the internal network towards respective selected or identified network servers.
