摘要： An air bag system for dissipating the kinetic energy of a vehicle passenger during a road accident followed by a strong, negative acceleration has an air bag (10; 20) that may be inflated by gas generated in a combustion chamber and purified through a gas flow filter before leaving the filter chamber. At least some partial areas of the air bag (10) and/or gas flow filter have one or several plies of woven or knitted fabric layers (13; 24) made of individual bonded fibres of an inorganic, preferably ceramic, fibrous material. This protects the vehicle passengers from the pollutants emitted when the air bag of the air bag system is filled with hot gas without reducing the effectiveness of the air bag system.

摘要： The invention concerns a system for protecting vehicle occupants in collisions, said system comprising an airbag gas generator (1) which comprises a combustion chamber (3; 23; 33) in which, on the basis of electrical signals emitted by an acceleration sensor provided in the vehicle, an exothermic chemical reaction of one or a plurality of propellants can generate a pressurized power gas for inflating the airbag (11) of an airbag system. The airbag system is characterized in that the combustion chamber (3; 23; 33) is made of heat-resistant material and is dimensionally stable such that it is substantially not permanently deformed during the course of the exothermic chemical reactions. A device for re-filling the combustion chamber (3; 23; 33) with used propellant (4; 24; 34; 34') is also provided. In this way, it is now possible for the first time to re-use an airbag system several times.

摘要： The invention concerns a method and an airbag system for decreasing the kinetic energy of a vehicle occupant during an accident with high negative acceleration. The airbag system comprises an airbag (11) inflation control unit which activates the airbag system on the basis of electrical signals from an acceleration sensor provided in the vehicle. Further sensors are provided for detecting those parameters which determine the individual kinetic energy of the vehicle occupant. The sensor elements emit electrical signals representing the parameters to the control unit for the continuous adjustment of the amount of gas to be generated, the inflation pressure and the inflation rate of the airbag (11). In this way, optimum protection of the vehicle occupant sitting in front of the airbag can be ensured and injury to the occupant avoided.
