In the embodiment disclosed the members (52, 53) are coupled in frictional engagement with one of the members (52) movable at a controllable rate of movement in response to a movement of the binding parts (3). With the predetermined force applied for the predetermined period of time, the movable member (52) effects a complete and substantially instantaneous release of all clamping forces from the binding parts (3).

    • A step-in side-clamp safety ski release system is described, comprising an overcenter mechanism. In the overcenter mechanism there is provided a lever member (50). The lever member (50) is pivotably coupled intermediate its ends to a connecting member (40). When the lever member (50) is pivoted in a first direction, the member slidably engages a housing (1) for moving the lever member (50) and connecting member (40) against a spring force for opening a pair of slideclamping members (5, 6). Pivoting of the lever member (50) in the opposite direction disengages the lever member (50) from the housing (1) permitting the lever member (50) and connecting member (40) to move with the spring force for closing the side-clamping members (5, 6). The lever member (50) is provided with a hole for receiving the tip of a ski pole for pivoting the lever member (50) in the first direction to open the clamping members and is provided with a surface for receiving the heel of a ski boot for pivoting the lever member (50) in the second direction to close the clamping members (5, 6).

    • Toothbrush (1) comprising a plurality of T-shaped bristles (5). While flexible, the tip or edge (25) of the cleansing elements (12, 24) of the head (11, 22) generally remains in contact with the surface of the tooth while the head (11, 22) is moved across the surface of the tooth.

    • Known step-in mechanisms have the full clamping force of the force unit applied to the step-in member for a substantial period of time when the binding is cocked. Side-clamp bindings with the step-in member located at the heel of the ski boot further suffer from being more complicated structurally and requiring specially made ski boots. A ski binding, including a housing (10) in which there is mounted a movable clamping member (11, 12) having an open position for receiving a clamp-receiving member (3) and a closed position for clamping the clamp-receiving member and a movable step-in member (40) mounted in said housing (10) having a part (41) thereof extendable beyond the surface of the housing (10) for opening and thereafter closing the clamping member (11, 12) as the extendable part (41) of the movable step-in member (40) is pressed toward the housing (10) by the pressure of a ski boot.

    • A step-in side-clamp safety ski release system is described. In the system there is provided a first attachment to the sole of a ski boot (7, 60) and a second mounting on the upper surface of a ski. One of either the attachment or the mounting comprises a plate (7, 62) and the other comprises a pair of inwardly directed facing protuberances (16, 73, 74) for overlaying the plate (7, 62) in a reasonable engagement. In the binding there is also provided a movable overcenter mechanism (36, 37, 39). The overcenter mechanism (36, 37, 39) is provided with a resilient member (37) for providing a spring force which is movable between a clamping position for releasably, resiliently clamping the plate (7, 62) and the protuberances (16, 73, 74) together, and an unclamping position for voluntarily separating the plate (7, 62) and the protuberances (16, 73, 74). For stepping into the ski release system with the plate when the overcenter mechanism is in its clamping position, there is provided a recess (51, 75) in each of the protuberances (16, 73, 74) for slidably receiving the plate (7, 62) and more particularly for slidably receiving a pair of tip members (20-23, 66-69) extending from the lateral corners of the plate (7, 62).
