摘要： Method and apparatus for improving the downlink bandwidth efficiency of a wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) communication device are described. During a voice call, DTCH and DCCH carry voice data and signaling individually, and are mapped on the same DCH then DPDCH. According to aspects of this disclosure, a new downlink physical shared dedicated control channel (DPSCCH) can be used in mapping DCCH from different voice calls, leaving all available bandwidth of DPDCH to DTCH traffic, hence improving the bandwidth efficiency of DPDCH.

摘要： A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a transmission and transmits an Ack regarding the transmission. A packet transmitting apparatus begins a transmission of a packet and receives an Ack regarding the transmission. The Ack may indicate early decoding of a packet comprised in the transmission. This enables the packet transmitting apparatus to cease transmission of the packet prior to transmission of the entire packet. The Ack may be transmitted using at least one of applying a pre- configured boost to the transmit power of at least a portion of a slot in which the Ack is transmitted, modulating a codeword pattern onto the symbols that would normally be transmitted in the slot, and transmitting the Ack on DPDCH.

摘要： Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate communicating user plane data over common control resources by specifying a UTRAN radio network temporary identifier (U-RNTI). In this regard, a Node B or an RNC receiving the user plane data can associate the data to the UE based on the U-RNTI. The user plane data can be transmitted in a control message with the associated U-RNTI, such as a CELL UPDATE message or another message having a U-RNTI specified in a media access control (MAC)-i header or other header in the message. The control message can also include parameters regarding the existence and specifications of the user plane data. In this regard, a UE can communicate user plane data when in a (UTRAN) registration area paging channel (URA PCH) or other relatively inactive state though it has not received an enhanced radio network temporary identifier (E RNTI).

摘要： Techniques for estimating thermal noise and rise-over-thermal (RoT) in a communication system are described. Thermal noise in a sideband may be measured and used as an estimate of thermal noise in a signal band. In one design, samples containing a desired signal centered at DC or a frequency higher than DC may be partitioned into blocks of K samples. Each block of K samples may be transformed with an FFT to obtain a corresponding block of K transform coefficients for K frequency bins. The power of transform coefficients for frequency bins in the sideband may be computed. Thermal noise may be estimated based on power values for the frequency bins in the sideband. Power values for frequency bins in the signal band may also be obtained and used to estimate total received power. RoT may then be estimated based on the estimated thermal noise and the estimated total received power.

摘要： Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate dynamic load balancing in a communications network. In particular, one or more mobile devices can send random access preambles on an uplink frequency paired to a downlink frequency employed to connect the one or more mobile devices to a base station. The base station can determine if an uplink frequency load imbalance exists based upon the random access preambles. The base station can transmit an indicator on an acquisition indicator channel to at least one mobile device wherein the indicator includes a command to transition to a new uplink frequency. The mobile device can switch uplink frequencies in response to the command.
