摘要： A fuel cell includes a plurality of individual fluid passageways each leading to a common outlet. Each fluid passageway includes an anode and a cathode. A plurality of fuel ports are connected to the fluid passageways and supply fuel to the passageways upstream of the anodes to flow in electrolyte towards the outlet. A plurality of oxidizer ports are connected to the fluid passageways and supply oxidizer to the passageways upstream of the cathodes to flow in electrolyte. The arrangement of the ports and the anodes and cathodes enables the fuel to oxidize at the anodes to generate electrons for conduction to a load and oxidation products, the oxidizer to reduce at the cathodes using electrons received from the load and generate reduction products, the oxidation products and reduction products to react to form a by-product, and the flow including the by- product to exit via the common outlet.

摘要： An electroosmotic (EO) pump is provided that includes a housing having a pump cavity, a porous core medium and electrodes. The porous core medium is positioned within the pump cavity to form an exterior reservoir that extends at least partially about an exterior surface of the porous core medium. The porous core medium has an open inner chamber provided therein. The inner chamber represents an interior reservoir. The electrodes are positioned in the inner chamber and are positioned proximate the exterior surface. The electrodes induce flow of a fluid through the porous core medium between the interior and exterior reservoirs, wherein a gas is generated when the electrodes induce flow of the fluid. The housing has a fluid inlet to convey the fluid to one of the interior reservoir and the exterior reservoir. The housing has a fluid outlet to discharge the fluid from another of the interior reservoir and the exterior reservoir. The housing has a gas removal device to remove the gas from the pump cavity.

摘要： A fuel cell having a first fluid passageway, a second fluid passageway, and an electrolyte passageway positioned at a first reaction zone between the first and second fluid passageways. The first fluid passageway has at least one anode and the second fluid passageway has at least one cathode. The fuel cell also has a fuel port in fluid communication with the first fluid passageway for supplying a fuel stream to the first fluid passageway, and an oxidizer port in fluid communication with the second fluid passageway for supplying an oxidizer stream to the second fluid passageway. The electrolyte passageway also has an electrolyte stream in fluid communication with the fuel stream and the oxidizer stream that creates and maintains a separated interface between the fuel stream and the oxidizer stream.
