    • A device for the concurrent induction heating of elements with complex shapes to provide a localized surface hardening of the elements to a constant depth all over the periphery of the element. This is accomplished by causing that the outside profile of the element to be heated and the inside profile of the inductor are geometrically similar and the clearance is minimum. The device consists of a construction (5) including inductors (1), (2), (3), (4) and hydraulic pistons (7) that move the mobile portion (10) of each inductor, thus allowing the loop to be opened and the element to be positioned. The hydraulic pistons can be replaced by pneumatic pistons or electromechanical actuators. The inductors consist of two portions: portion (10) is moved by pistons (7) and portion (11) is integral with the construction. Once the surfaces (12) of the two portions are brought into contact with each other, they form a closed loop having the inside profile geometrically similar to profile (8) of the element to be heated.

    • A method and device of induction hardening of a circular mechanical component part (3), where at least four inductors (5-8) are arranged, in pairs, in tandem with respect to an annular surface (2) to be hardened, a first inductor (5) of a first pair (15) being operatively associated with a first cooling shower (16) arranged immediately adjacent to a second cooling shower (18) operatively associated with a first inductor (7) of a second pair (17). The inductors and the corresponding showers of each pair (15,17) are fed and rotated with respect to one another and to the annular surface (2) to be hardened, so that the second pair (17) of inductors leaves the first pair (15) from the side of the first shower (16) to be repositioned in tandem adjacent to the first pair (15) on the opposite side; at this point, at least two inductors (6,8) are no longer fed and are moved away from the surface (2) to be hardened, while continuing the relative rotation of the other inductors; finally, all the inductors (7,8) along with the first and second showers (16,18) are no longer fed and are moved away from a portion (200) of the surface to be hardened on which they insist at that moment, by replacing them with a third shower (20) by means of which such a portion (200) is cooled.
