摘要： In an embodiment, an access network (AN) receives a message configured to prompt a conditional allocation of Quality of Service (QoS) resources to an access terminal (AT). The message can be received from the AT or from an application server (AS) that arbitrates a communication session for the AT. In another embodiment, if the AT determines that a QoS resource request has not yet been granted, the AT waits until the traffic channel (TCH) has been obtained for a communication session before resending the QoS resource request. In another embodiment, if the AT determines to initiate or join a second communication session before a confirmation that QoS resources for a first communication session are relinquished, the AT waits until the confirmation is received before a request for QoS resources for the second communication session is sent.

摘要： In an embodiment, an access terminal sends a request for a level of Quality of Service (QoS) resources to an access network, the QoS resource request associated with a call attempt by the access terminal. The access terminal proceeds with call set-up for the call attempt irrespective of whether the access network grants the QoS resource request. Alternatively, the access terminal waits for an extended period of time before the call attempt is permitted to fail. In a further example, in the event of call failure, the access terminal can refrain from informing a user thereof of the call failure. In another embodiment, the access network can respond to the QoS resource request with an allocation of a lower level QoS resources than requested if the requested QoS resources are not available. The access terminal can likewise be permitted to participate in the call with the lower level QoS resources.

The wireless telecommunication devices selectively receives a broadcast channel based upon a predetermined probability, and assigns a greater probability of receiving an open broadcast channel for requests to transmit direct group communication streams than for requests open a broadcast channel that are not for a direct group communication.

摘要： Apparatus and method for selectively enabling an early push-to-talk (PTT) call set up request in a wireless communications network. When a user activates a directory application on a wireless device, the wireless device checks for network information received from a base station. If the network information indicates that the network is of a predetermined type and can advantageously set up the PTT call, the wireless device enables the early PTT call set up request by sending a data channel set up request to the base station. If the network information does not indicate the network is of the predetermined type, the wireless device does not send any data channel request to the base station until the user has actually initiates a PTT call.

摘要： A system and method for enabling simultaneous voice and data communication over a communication channel having a single pair of allocated Walsh codes in a wireless telecommunication network. A converter server intercepts voice data coming from and going to from mobile telecommunication devices, such as mobile telephones, and converts the voice data into data packets, preferably in an IP Protocol. In transmission, the packets with voice data are then sent to the communication server(s) hosting the communication channel for the mobile device and are carried with non-voice data packets in a single communication channel to other mobile communication devices. In receipt, the voice data packets can be returned to analog voice data at the converter server, or alternately, the mobile device will handle the separation and conversion of the voice data from data packets received.
