摘要： A method of filling a flexible pouch having a base and sidewalls extending from the base to define a mouth. The method comprising the steps of delivering the pouches to an infeed conveyor (28) to a predetermined orientation and transporting the pouches in a controlled manner toward a filler station (D,E,F), and transferring the pouches from the infeed conveyor to a transport conveyor (90) in which the pouch is gripped adjacent to the mouth so as to be suspended from the transport conveyor. Opening the mouth of the pouch to permit filling at the filling station passing the pouches through the filler station, closing the mouth and sealing the mouth prior to release from the transport conveyor.

The fitment having a straw (7) therein and a removeable cap (8) for sealing the liquid in the pouch. The cap can be removed to allow access to the straw and the liquid in the pouch. The cap ban be replaced on the fitment to reseal the pouch. Since the straw is already in the fitment it is easier to use than liquid containing pouches where the straw has to be inserted into the pouch by breaking a seal. Further the straw in the fitment helps prevent spills and injuries associated with straws having to break the seal of the pouch.

摘要： A method of filling pouches, particularly drink pouches, with few steps in the process. A pouch is provided for filling and placed on its side on a conveyor belt. The pouch is pushed to a stop such that the open end of the pouch is placed for accurate engagement by clamps which pick up the pouch on both sides of the mouth and rotate the pouch to a vertical position with the mouth facing upward. The clamps then move relative to the center of the pouch opening the mouth, optionally with an incoming jet of air to assist with the opening. A substance such as a liquid to drink is then placed in the pouch, the clamps are moved apart and the pouch sealed. Fitments may be placed in the pouch before the pouch mouth is closed and sealed. The filled pouches are then released from the clamps.
