摘要： The present invention provides a method and apparatus to route data packets across a torus or higher radix topology that has low latency, increased throughput and traffic distribution to avoid hot spots development. Disclosed is a method of routing packets in a distributed direct interconnect network from a source node to a destination node comprising the steps of: discovering all nodes and associated ports; updating the database to include the nodes and ports in the network topology; calculating the shortest path from every output port on each node to every other node in the topology; segmenting each packet into flits at the output port of the source node; as the flits are segmented, distributing said flits along the shortest path from each output port on the source node to the destination node using wormhole switching, whereby the packets are distributed along alternate maximum disjoint routes in the network topology; and re-assembling and re-ordering the packets at the destination node so that the packets accord with their original order/form.

摘要： A method of routing for direct interconnect networks which generates multiple edge-disjoint paths between all source and destination nodes, while providing deadlock-free routing. The method requires limited use of virtual layers, which makes it suitable for less complex and more energy efficient hardware devices, and inter-layer edge-disjointedness is preferably integrated, which improves the throughput capacity of multipath traffic patterns. The method allows for distributed route calculation, wherein each node is responsible for generation of its own routes without the need for a centralized algorithm controller or elected master (with global knowledge), as it is, for instance, with InfiniBand. The method also involves a method of mapping arbitrary topologies from any dimension to bi-dimensional coordinate system. In addition, the method employs a lower number of turn restrictions than other prior solutions because it uses six direction types instead of only four as used in Up*/Down*. This increase in the number of directions translates into a more diversified set of routes, and consequently, better routing solutions.

摘要： Signaling link or node failure in a direct interconnect network may be facilitated by recording paths between the various nodes in the network in a lookup table, whereby the paths are represented by a sequence of exit port numbers for nodes along with a terminator marker indicating the end of the path and thus the destination node. Each path in the lookup table may also be associated with a status indicator. As packets are broken down into flits and sent over the network, failures in links or nodes may be detected. Once a failure is detected, a path failure flit is sent back through the path in reverse with path information to notify the source node of the failure. Once notified of a link or node failure, the associated path is updated to reflect its unavailability.

摘要： The invention provides a method for the temporal monitoring and visualization of the health of a direct interconnect network wherein discovered and configured nodes provide node telemetry data from each node or every port on each node at time interval, and the node telemetry data is stored in a temporal datastore at each time interval with a timestamp for a retention period, such that the temporal datastore contains a temporal history of node telemetry data from each node or every port on each node during the retention period. The node telemetry data is analyzed, alarms are raised as necessary, a health status commensurate with the severity of the node telemetry data is assigned and stored for each node or every port on each node, and a health score is calculated for such nodes and ports based on the assigned health status for use by a user interface. The user interface provides various novel visual representations of the health of nodes and ports based on the calculated health score, and this visual representation may display node and port health for any specific time during the retention period as desired.
