摘要： Efficient systems and methods for inflating, deflating, or simultaneously inflating and deflating air mattress chambers using various pump and pump housing configurations are provided. Examples of the various pump and pump housing configurations include: boundary-layer pumps having single disk array or multiple disk array layouts, different disk geometries, different pressure recovery chamber geometries, adjustable components for switching between filling and powered dumping operations, and reversible and non-reversible motors; and pump housings having one or more dump channels for manifold-driven powered dumping, multiple sides or stages for pressure and/or flow compounding, various manifold chamber configurations for robust connectivity with air mattresses having multiple chambers, and various valve configurations for flexible control over filling, powered dumping, and simultaneous filling and powered dumping operations. Pump products having pumps and pump housings designed according to the principles described herein are able to satisfy a wide range of different performance and cost requirements.

摘要： Methods and devices are provided for passively locking a bone screw within a bone plate. In particular, the methods and devices allow a bone screw to be locked within a thru-hole in a bone plate without requiring any additional locking steps. In an exemplary embodiment, an annular feature is provided in a thru-hole of a bone plate, or in a bushing that is disposed within a thru-hole of a bone plate, for engaging a bone screw. The annular feature can be configured such that it allows the bone screw to be inserted through the thru-hole at various insertion angles while still being effective to prevent back-out of the bone screw, thereby locking the screw to the plate.

The method includes mixing a blood sample with a lytic reagent to lyse red blood cells; measuring particles of the lysed blood sample in a particle analyzer to obtain an axial light loss measurement; and differentiating the parasite particle population in the lysed blood sample in response to the axial light loss measurement. In one embodiment, the method includes measuring light scattering and differentiating a parasite particle population by comparing the light scattering measurement and the axial light loss measurement. The system for detecting a parasite population in a blood sample includes a particle analyzer to obtain an axial light loss measurement; and a computer for using an axial light loss measurement to determine of a parasite particle population.
