    • A cellular communication system comprises a base station (12) in a communication cell (10), one or more terminals (14) arranged to receive first signals (16) directly from the base station, one or more relay transceivers (18) in or adjacent to said cell and arranged to receive second signals (20) from the terminals (14) and to transmit the second signals as relay signals (22) to the base station, i.e. the uplink communication is indirect (through a relay), and the downlink communication is direct between a Base station and a Mobile station. The first and second signals (16, 20) are omnidirectional mobile telephone signals in the GHz range and the relay signals (22) are directional signals in the millimetre or microwave range. The cell (10) may be arranged into an inner cell (24) and a concentric outer cell with return communications from terminals (14) in the inner cell being transmitted by direct signals (26) to the base station.

    • A foot traction pad (10, 10', 10'') is provided for a sport board (19) having a built-in arch (12). The arch (12) is constructed of a bladder (40) containing a fluid that will move and confirm to a user's foot and continue conformance whenever there is foot movement. The abutment structure is aligned laterally in relation to the longitudinal axis of the bladder. The pad (10, 10', 10'') covering overlies the abutment structure. The pad (10, 10', 10'') may be an integrated unitary body or it may have peripheral segments for accommodating different sport board (19) sizes and shapes.

    • An apparatus (50) for securing a personal transport vehicle (PTV) such as a motorcycle or ATV to the bed of a truck includes a pair of elongated straight handlebar struts (51) telescopically adjustable to a length fixable by a first key lock (58). Each strut (51) has an upper hook (34) lockable by a second key lock (57) to a handlebar of a PTV, and a lower hook (56) securable to a truck bed, by a third key lock (59). The apparatus includes an elongated cross-lock arm (71) telescopically adjustable to a length fixable by a fourth, cross-lock arm key lock (76). Each cross-lock arm has at one end thereof a swivelable hook (79) for engaging a structural member of a PTV, and at the other end a fixed hook (74) for engaging a collar (65) protruding from the strut, the longitudinal position of which collar is adjustable on the strut. A pair of struts (51) and a pair of cross-lock arms (71) are used to secure a single vehicle, and a pair of vehicles is securable by a pair of struts and single cross-lock arm disposed between the vehicles.
