摘要： A technique is proposed for multicast transmission in a PON communication system, using IGMP protocol and an IGMP router, to a plurality of IGMP hosts to serve respective end customers of the PON communication system. The technique comprises a) requesting a multicast channel by a particular end customer, by using IGMP protocol, b) adding the particular customer to a multicast group, c) delivering the requested multicast channel in a churned form to the end customers belonging to the multicast group, and d) providing for the particular end customer access to the delivered churned multicast channel in response to the mentioned request.
