    • A liquid crystal display is provided which comprises front and rear panels, and electrodes, polarizers and a layer of liquid crystal disposed between the front and rear panels. The polarizer on the rear panel is preferably a reflecting type in at least one region of the spectrum and contains at least one element in the formof a multilayer structure. The multilayer structure contains at least two anisotropic layers separated by at least one intermediate layer which is optically transparent in the desired spectral region. The ratio of refraction indices and thickness of the layersin the multilayer structure is chosen such to provide an extremumfor the ratio of the transmitted and reflected polarized light inthe spectral region.

    • The invention pertains to anisotropic multilayer thin-film coatings and may be used in fabrication of various optical elements, such as polarizers, beam splitters, interference-polarizing light filters, polarizing mirrors, etc. The herein invention is aimed at creating a multilayer optically anisotropic structure, which contains at least one layer with high degree of anisotropy and perfect structure, whereas refraction indexes and thicknesses of all layers and their combination is selected according to the known law, determined by the purpose of the structure, such as to provide an interference extremum for at least one polarization of light. The technical result of the disclosed invention is the increase of effectiveness of transforming incident radiation, which corresponds to the functional purpose of the multilayer optically anisotropic structure, due to the high reproducible degree of anisotropy of at leastone layer in the structure.

    • Invention pertains to technology of fabricating thin films or coatings, which possess anisotropic physical properties, and to devices for obtaining such films from colloid systems, in particular from lyotropic liquid crystals (LLP).Technical result of the herein disclosed invention is the design of a device for fabricating anisotropic films from colloid systems of organic or inorganic materials with anisometric particles, which would enhance perfection of the structure of the obtained films, enhance reproducibility of parameters over the entire surface of films, as well as throughout their thickness, and also enhance anisotropy of its properties.
