    • An incandescent lamp (1) connected to a socket (11) has a glass tube (2) having sealed ends (5) on opposite side. A substantially U-shaped lead (4a) connected to a filament (3) inside the glass tube (2) is projected through each of the sealed ends (5). When the incandescent lamp (1) is connected, the sealed ends (5) of the lamp (1) are fitted into the end-grooves (27a). This easily positions the leads (4a) so that they can be engaged with the contacts (34) in the lead-receiving grooves (27b).
