    • A method and apparatus for packet-data header decompression, particularly advantageous to use in connection with boardcast and multicast messages being transported through a radio telecommunication system operable according to the CDMA 2000 standard. When a mobile subscriber desires boardcast content from a content server (fig.2, element 280), the mobile station sets up a PPP session for submitting the request and negotiating security protocols. When a subscription is granted, the mobile station receives broadcast content that has under gone header compression. In order to synchronize its decompressor, the mobile station receives a full header from a PDSN fig.2, element 250). The full header is preferably sent out on a periodic basis just for this purpose. The frequency of full header transmissions by the PDSN (fig.2, element 250) is increased from a normal mode to a high full header frequency (HFHF) mode upon receiving a request for a full header from a mobile station, but returns to normal-mode full-header transition frequency after receiving an ACK message from the requesting mobile indicating successful decompressor synchronization, or upon the expiration of a predetermined HFHF-mode maximum duration.

    • A system and method for initiating a Device Management (DM) session between a client and a server. More particularly, a system and method for triggering an Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) DM client which does not support User Data Protocol (UDP) PUSH messaging to initiate a DM session with an OMA DM server. The OMA DM client may be triggered by configuring a service provider node to include an indicator in a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) response message sent from a service provider node to the OMA DM client. Upon reception of the last HTTP response message, the OMA DM client may initiate a DM session with a OMA DM server and thereby receive initial provisioning data from the OMA DM server. Alternatively, the OMA DM server and OMA DM client may maintain a previously created DM session and thereby receive the initial provisioning data.

    • The present invention relates to a packet data communication system and a method for use in a packet data communication system. The system comprises at least one access network configured to provide a wireless interface between a mobile device and the access network for communication of packet data and a core network comprising at least one core network node for supporting the communication of packet data on the wireless interface. A controller is provided in association with the access network and configured to monitor at least one condition associated with the wireless interface. If the monitoring indicates that the at least one condition is met, the controller sends messages to the core network node in response to messages from the core network node.
