    • A combination lumbar bolster system for attachment to a vehicle seat frame comprises a lumbar support having a flat position and a deployed position, wherein the deployed position is forward of the flat position; a pair of lateral bolsters each having a resting position and an extended position, wherein the extended position is further from the seat frame than the resting position; at least one traction cable operably attached to at least one of the lumbar support and the lateral bolsters; and at least one spring. The traction cable moves the lumbar support between the flat position and the deployed position and the lateral bolsters between the resting positions and the extended positions such that the movements of the lumbar support and the bolsters is coordinated, and the spring opposes the movement of the traction cable.

    • A simplified, low-cost actuator (10) used in conjunction with a lumbar support device for a seat and is designed to significantly decrease manufacturing costs and assembly time. The present invention produces similar movement as the more expensive actuators but does so with a considerably smaller number of parts. The actuator consists merely of four pieces-a handle (10’), a spring (14), a plunger (12), and a mounting bracket (16). The symmetry of design of this actuator allows it be installed more easily in any orientation and on either side of a seat. Furthermore, the actuator (10) may be adapted for use with a tension cable (42) or a drive rod(48). Said plunger (12) is located within a shaft (30) of said handle (10’) and having a push button (36) on a first end and a set of teeth (24) on a second end . A spring force exerted on the pluger (12) by said spring (14) maintains said set of teeth (24) in communication with a gear set (18) of said mounting bracket (16) for preventing movement of said handle (10’).

    • A fold down seat back (10) or seat bottom has at least one ergonomic support device (20, 60) in it. A traction cable (30) is operatively engagad at one end with the ergonomic support device to actuate it. The traction cable is comprised of a sleeve having a first end and a second end and a wire having a first end and a second end. The wire is disposed to slide axially through the sleeve. The first sleeve end is attached to one of the seat back or seat bottom, for example by a rotating cable tension unit (50). The wire end is attached to the other of the seat back or seat bottom, for example, by the fixed torsion bar (14). The wire end may be attached to the torsion rod with a pulley. These attachments of the sleeve end and the wire end cause the wire to be drawn axially through the sleeve when the seat back is folded up, extending or rotating an ergonomic support, and cause the wire to be relaxed when the seat back is folded down, flattening the ergonomic support. The ergonomic device may be a bolster (60, 260, 360), a wire array (20), a head rest (660), an arm rest (600), an arching pressure surface (370) or a scissors lumbar support (460, 470).

    • A folding seat for a vehicle includes a seat base fixed to an intermediate bracket, a seat back having a lower end and a support bracket fixed to the vehicle. An intermediate bracket has a first hinge point where the seat back lower end is hingedly attached to the intermediate bracket. The intermediate bracket has a second hinge point where the intermediate bracket is hingedly attached to the support bracket, and which is spatially removed from the first hinge point. Upon folding of the seat base into a vertical position, the intermediate bracket rotates on the second hinge point, which remains stationary and the first hinge point rotates upwardly and rearwardly around the second hinge point, so that the first hinge point and the lower seat back move rearwardly as the seat back and the seat base are folded into vertical orientation close to the rear vehicle wall.
