According to the invention, each brush element (6) is eccentrically mounted in a gear plate (12) which is in turn rotatably mounted in the housing (1) and thus drives the brush element (6) about the centre axis (51, 52) of the gear plate (12). At the same time, the brush element (6) rotates about its own axis (16). Owing to the superimposed rotational movements, the massage effect is improved and the treatment more gentle.
