    • Systems, methods, and computer program products for closed loop control of a lighting system. A plurality of system nodes (12) are in communication with a database management system (16). Each node (12) includes a supervisory controller (100), a fixture (102), communication modules (108) (116) (120) (121), and sensor modules (118) (119) (122) (123). The node (12) adjusts the output of the fixture (102) in accordance with data from the database management system (16) and/or data from a mobile device (18). The node (12) senses environmental conditions near the node (12), such as characteristics of the light, temperature, humidity, occupancy, and movement in an area near the node (12), and transmits data indicative of these conditions to the database management system (16). The data base management system (16) analyzes the data and makes further adjustments to the output of the nodes (12) based thereon. Adjustments to the output of the nodes (12) may include adjustments configured to stimulate a biological response in visual receptors of a person near one of the nodes (12).

    • Systems, methods, and computer program products for communicating information to a mobile device (1408) in response to the mobile device (1408) receiving a beacon signal (1444) from an electronic tag (1406). The electronic tag (1406) includes a near-field communication module (1438) configured to transmit a near-field beacon signal (1444) encoded with a universally unique identifier. The near field communication module (1438) may transmit the near-field beacon signal (1444) periodically or in response to the electronic tag (1406) receiving an interrogation signal (1442) from the mobile device (1408). In response to receiving the near-field beacon signal (1444), the mobile device (1408) queries a database (1426) using the universally unique identifier encoded in the beacon signal (1444). In response to receiving the query, the database (1426) searches for data associated with the universally unique identifier and transmits the data to the mobile device (1408) for display to the user.

    • A luminaire 100 having a housing 102 with a column 146 extending therefrom and a bracket 400 secured to the column 146, the bracket 400 having a body 404 and two wings 406 extending from opposing sides of the body 404, at least a portion of each wing 406 extending in a direction at least partially away from the column 146. The mounting bracket 400 allows installation of the luminaire 100 to a structure 210, such as a ceiling or canopy, by inserting the luminaire column 146 and bracket 400 into an aperture 210a in the structure 210 from the underside of the structure. The aperture edge forces the wings to flex inward as the column advances through the aperture until the wings pass the aperture edge and spring outward to hold the luminaire to the structure. The mounting bracket thus facilitates quick attachment of the luminaire to the structure and allows attachment of additional mounting hardware to further secure the luminaire to the structure.

    • The current application is directed to control of lighting systems and utilization of ambient light levels for such control. One implementation comprises one or more lighting fixtures installed in a structure, at least one ambient light information source configured to provide brightness information of ambient light of the structure, and a controller configured to maintain a brightness level of an interior portion of the structure substantially the same as a brightness level of an exterior portion of the structure by controlling outputs of the lighting fixtures in response to the brightness information of the ambient light. The interior portion of the structure may include an entrance portion of the structure. The controller may be further configured to gradually reduce brightness levels of the outputs of the lighting fixtures from the entrance portion towards a center of the structure.
