    • The present invention relates to a transmitter for a wireless optical communication system using a light source, the transmitter being capable of maximizing the data transmission rate while maintaining a luminous intensity adjustment function of the light source. The transmitter comprises: a dimming level input unit for receiving the input of the dimming level of the light source; an encoder for encoding the primitive data so that "1" and "0" each takes up 50%, and for outputting the data thereby; a dimming encoder for confirming the dimming level inputted into the dimming level input unit, generating a symbol-codeword table that corresponds to the dimming level, and encoding the data outputted from the encoder using the generated symbol-codeword table; a line encoder for converting the data encoded by the dimming encoder into a pulse signal; and a data storage unit for storing symbol-codeword tables that correspond to a plurality of dimming levels. The transmitter for a wireless optical communication system using a lighting light-source, according to the present invention, can maximize communication efficiency while maintaining the luminous intensity adjustment function of the light source by using a dimming encoding method.
