    • Production of oxalkylates of oligoamines or polyamines in a two-stage process in which, in the first stage, a molecule of alkylene oxide per NH group is added to the oligoamine or polyamine in the presence of water, alcohols or acids or a mixture thereof in the absence of a neutral or basic catalyst and, in the second, after the removal of water and acids, a reaction is conducted with further alkylene oxide in the presence of a conventional neutral or basic catalyst. According to this method, one adds before the second stage an organic solvent or diluting agent or a mixture of such agents from the group: (a) alcohols and phenols and their alkoxylates, (b) polyalcohols based on ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butylene oxide or a mixture thereof, (c) N-substituted carboxylic acid amides, (d) alkanol monoamines and alkanol polyamines and their alkoxylates, (e) other oxalkylates of oligo or polyamines, (f) aromatic hydrocarbons, (g) aliphatic hydrocarbons, (h) ether and (i) sulphones or sulphoxides.
