摘要： Thermally imageable multilayer imageable elements useful as lithographic printing plate precursors that have good solvent resistance are disclosed. The underlayer of the imageable element comprises an acidic copolymer that comprises, in polymerized form, 10 mol% to 75 mol% of one or more monomers of the formula (I): CH 2 =CH(R 1 ) Z-X-NH-CO-NH-C 6 H 3 -(R2)(CO 2 H); in which: R 1 is H or CH 3 ;R 2 is H or OH; Z is -C 6 H 4 -or - C(O) - Y- ;Y is - O - or - NH- ; and X is selected from -C(CH 3 ) 2 - , -CH(CH 3 )- and -(CH 2 ) n -, in which n is an integer from 1 to 12.

The inner layer includes a polymeric material that is removable using an alkaline developer. An ink receptive outer layer is not removable using an alkaline developer before its exposure to imaging radiation. The outer layer includes a polymer binder having pendant epoxy groups that are substantially unreacted during exposure.

摘要： Alkali solute copolymers, imageable elements useful as lithographic printing plate precursors that contain the alkali solute copolymers, and methods for forming images using the imageable elements are disclosed. 摘要： A method for producing a predetermined resist pattern on e.g. a lithographic printing plate, circuit board or mask comprises the imagewise exposure of a radiation sensitive diazide-containing coating (conventionally considered as a UV sensitive material), to non-UV radiation, such as direct heat radiation or infra-red radiation. A positive of the exposed image is revealed on development. Additionally, it has been found that a flood exposure to UV radiation after the imagewise exposure to the non-UV radiation means that a negative of the exposed image is revealed, on development.

摘要： A positive-working imageable element comprises inner and outer layers and a radiation absorbing compound. The inner layer includes a first polymeric material. The ink receptive outer layer includes a second polymeric binder comprising a polymer backbone and an -X-C(=T)-NR-S(=O) 2 - moiety that is attached to the polymer backbone, wherein -X- is an oxy or -NR'- group, T is O or S, R and R' are independently hydrogen, halo, or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. After thermal imaging, the element can be developed using an alkaline developer. Use of the particular second polymeric binder reduces sludging in the developer. Its dissolution rate in the developer is slow enough to resist developer attack in the non-imaged areas of the outer layer but rapid enough for the second polymeric binder to be quickly loosened from imaged areas and kept suspended or dissolved for a considerable time.

摘要： An infrared radiation-sensitive positive-working imageable element has a substrate and single imageable layer that includes a first polymeric binder having urethane or urea moieties in its backbone. The first polymeric binder is also insoluble in water and soluble in a weakly alkaline solution. This imageable element can be imaged and processed using weakly alkaline processing solutions that are free of silicates and metasilicates, which processing solutions may also be used to "gum" the imaged and developed printing surface.
