摘要： A catalyst for oxidation reactions, particularly the oxidation of ammonia comprises oxides of (a) at least one element A selected from rare earths and yttrium, and (b) cobalt, said cobalt and element A being in such proportions that the element A to cobalt atomic ratio is in the range 0.8 to 1.2, at least some of said cobalt and element A oxides being present as a mixed oxide phase with less than 25 % of the cobalt (by atoms) being present as free cobalt oxides. The catalyst may be supported on a secondary support in the form of an alkali-free alumina or lanthana wash coat on a primary support in the form of a mesh, gauze, pad, or monolith formed from a high temperature iron/aluminium alloy or a mesh, gauze, pad, monolith, or foam of a ceramic material.

摘要： A break-away coupling device for use with a hoseline or pipeline for conveying hazardous fluids. The coupling comprises coupling members (10, 11) of generally tubular form for connection at their outer ends (14, 15) to a hoseline, pipeline or other fluid-supply or fluid-delivery point, and provided at their inner ends with complementary faces (12, 13) which are held in sealing engagement by frangible connectors (18). The coupling members have valve seats (45), and valve members (30, 31) which are urged towards closing engagement with said seats but are usually being held against the springs (36) and out of engagement with the seats until the coupling members are separated on breaking of the connectors. An annular separating ram (51) is provided to apply pressure between the coupling members which will break the connectors and separate the coupling members, whereupon the valve members will seat under spring action and minimise spillage of the fluid being conveyed.

摘要： An endothermic reaction is effected using a heat transfer bed, containing a variable oxidation state material, which is cycled through a succession of stages including an oxidative regeneration stage employing passage of a hot oxidising gas through the bed, a reductive regeneration stage employing passage of a reducing gas that is oxidised with the evolution of heat through the bed, each cycle of the process having a duration of less than 5 minutes. The convertible material comprised a chromic containing catalyst.
