摘要： The present invention provides a method and system for maintaining communication between a first communication device (102) and a second communication device (106) in a communication network (100) when the first communication device and the second communication device are communicating on a first communication channel. The method includes receiving (404) a request from the second communication device at an intermediate serving entity (104). Further, the method includes transmitting (406) an information signal from the intermediate serving entity to the first communication device. The information signal comprises new attributes of the second communication device. Moreover, the method includes switching (408) communication channel from the first communication channel to the second communication channel when a switching indication is received at the first communication device.

摘要： A communication system (100) provides for an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-based three way call. A mobile station (MS) (104) receives an invitation to participate in a call and determines to switch the call to a three way call. The MS conveys a request to an IMS network (150) to switch the call to a conference call. An IMS network server (168) receives the request, determines a unique identifier for the conference call, and provides the conference call identifier to the MS via one or more of a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Refer message, a SIP Message message, and a SIP 200 OK message. In response to receiving the conference call identifier, the MS dials into the conference call and requests that the call originator (102) also dial in. The IMS network server then requests that the call originator dial in and, in response, the call originator dials in.

摘要： A communication system (100) implements a handoff of a call that is to be anchored in an IMS network (150) and is initiated via a terminating packet data network (132) but is handed off to a terminating cellular, or circuit switched, network (142) during an alerting procedure. An originating mobile station (102) initiates a call to a terminating mobile station (104) via the terminating packet data network. Prior to the setup of the call, the terminating mobile station determines that a handoff to the terminating cellular network is desired. The terminating mobile station alerts a user of the terminating mobile station to the call and, while the call is answered and before completing the setup of the call, initiates a switching of the call from the terminating packet data network to the terminating cellular network. The call is then established with the terminating mobile station via the terminating cellular network.
