摘要： Barium, strontium and/or rare earth metal hexaferrite powder of low coercivity can be produced by subjecting a barium, strontium and/or rare earth metal hexaferrite powder to carburising, nitriding, carbonitriding, hydriding or carbohydriding conditions without undue loss of saturation magnetisation. High coercivity powder can be produced by calcining the low coercivity powder (fig. 1). High remanence and high saturation magnetisation powder can be produced by mechanically alloying of a Sr-, Ba and/or rare earth metal hexaferrite powder with iron powder (fig. 12).

The method and apparatus find application in the recovery of rare earth magnets from large assemblies such as rotors and turbines.

摘要： There is provided a process for producing a metal hydride, which process comprises mechanically grinding or milling a compound of a first metal with a hydride of a second metal in order to produce an intimate mixture of said first metal compound and said second metal hydride, such that in situ generation of the hydride of the first metal occurs. There is also provided an electrical energy generating system comprising: (i) a hydrogen fuel cell having an inlet for hydrogen gas; and (ii) a storage vessel containing a solid metal hydride material, said solid metal hydride material being substantially free from solvent, said storage vessel being connected to the inlet of the hydrogen fuel cell; wherein the solid metal hydride material thermally decomposes to release hydrogen gas at a temperature within the operating range of the hydrogen fuel cell. The metal hydride produced in the first aspect of the invention may be used in this electrical energy generating system.
