The invention concerns the use of stacks (1) of the first in, first out (FIFO) type to unscramble television images. In order to write into such a stack (1) from a desired address, irrelevant information is first written to increment the internal counter of the stack to which there is no access. Relevant information is then written from the desired counter reading. It is possible to rewrite relevant information over the irrelevant data, for instance at the start of the stack. This invention is applicable in particular to special memories for uses not designed by the manufacturer. It is more especially applicable to the use of stacks of the first in, first out type to unscramble television images.

摘要： Windows of television images are enlarged by stretching the imagesimultaneously in the vertical and horizontal directions. In the simplest case, this can be achieved by increasing the deflection amplitudes. Since the horizontal deflection consumes most of the energy converted in an image-reproduction device and calls for high-performance structural components, an increase in deflection amplitude would further increase the energy consumption and place more stringent requirements on the strength of the structural elements used. This is undesirable. The invention resolves this problem in that the image information of a directly transmitted or retransmitted scanning line which follow sequentially in a horizontal direction is stored and then sequential image information for the cut-off of the scanning line is represented as extended over the total line width. The invention can be used as an optional conversion function in television receivers, for example to convert feature film having a different format to the total screen height without necessarily distorting the shape.
