摘要： An electronic utility strap is provided. The strap includes one or more bands, which can be formed of a flexible material, and can include one or more embedded conductive elements. The strap also can include a power source, which can be temporarily attached to the strap or embedded therein. One or more electronic components can be attached to the strap and electrically connected to one or more of the conductive elements. The electronic components can include single use components, which receive power from the power source and operate in conjunction with other electronic components separately attached to the strap.

摘要： A flotation device, particularly suitable for use as a pull buoy or a kickboard is described. The flotation device can include a flotation element and a stem element, which extends from an inner surface of the flotation element. A holding mechanism can be located adjacent to the second end of the stem element. The stem element and holding mechanism can be configured to enable a user to hold onto the flotation device at a point below the surface of the water for use as a kickboard or enable a user to secure the stem element of the flotation device between his/her legs for use as a pull buoy. An embodiment of the stem element can be tapered, which can create forces that assist the user in using the flotation device as either a pull buoy or a kickboard.

摘要： Portable wireless devices are ubiquitous in modern society and many of these have integral sensors such as accelerometers, microphones, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) that can collect data. This creates potential for intelligent applications to recognize the user, or aspects of the user and take appropriate action. According to embodiments of the invention there are presented techniques for representing such time series data which reduce the memory and computational complexity of performing the analysis and classifying the results. The techniques exploit time-delay embedding is to reconstruct the state and dynamics of an unknown dynamical system, Geometric Template Matching to build nonparametric classifiers, and algorithms to address the problem of selecting segments of data from which to build the time-delay models for classification problems.

The treadmill can be constructed with no obstructing front rails, with one or more side rails, and/or with a structural flat or ramped surface at the front allowing the user to exercise with unconstrained motion. The treadmill can further include one or more accommodations to help the user stay safe, remain longitudinally centered, and/or adjust speed with controls built into the treadmill, or automatically based on body position relative to sensors built into the side rails. The treadmill belt may be motor driven, or be user driven and dynamically moderated by resistance. The treadmill configuration can be utilized to provide a virtualized exercise experience for the user.
