    • The present invention relates to pre-treatment of natural gas for removal of CO2 and water by means of absorption down to LNG specification regarding CO2 and H2O content. The natural gas is brought in contact with a two-component absorption solution comprising one component acting as a solvent, which can be a mixture of solvents, having high affinity for water and being compatible with the other components having the ability to react reversibly with CO2. Used absorption solution is regenerated by stripping with large amounts of inert gas, preferably natural gas, containing substantially no CO2 or H2O. Both the absorption and desorption can be performed in two stages. The two-component absorption solution comprises ethylene glycols, glycol ethers or normal methyl pyrrolidone and alkanolamines.

    • The present invention relates to a process for the purification of natural gas to make it comply with gas or pipeline specifications comprising that the gas has a dew point between 0 DEG C and -18 DEG C and a H2S content below 4 ppm by volume. H2S and water are removed simultaneously from the natural gas in an absorption column where the gas is contacted with an amine-glycol solution. The glycol solution is then heated, flashed and then brought in contact with a stripping gas to be freed of the water and H2S, whereupon the stripping gas containing removed H2S and water is combusted with air whereby the H2S is converted to SO2 which subsequently is absorbed in a contact unit to which sea water is supplied and brought in contact with the exhaust gas from the combustion unit. The absorption solution is preferably a mixture of a primary and/or secondary alkanolamine in mono-, di-, and/or triethylene glycol.

    • The present invention relates to a method of catalytic production of ammonia, where a gas mixture consisting mainly of unconverted synthesis gas, some ammonia, inert gases and possibly also water is recirculated to the synthesis reactor being first freed from the main part of the ammonia and possibly also water by absorption. The gas mixture is brought in contact with a hygroscopic absorption agent having two or more OH-groups for absorption of ammonia and possibly also water. The absorption is carried out at a pressure being substantially the same as the ammonia synthesis pressure, and ammonia being desorbed from the absorption agent at a lower pressure and higher temperature than at the absorption. At least part of the possibly present water is removed from the absorption agent before it is supplied to the absorption column. Preferably it is applied ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol or triethylene glycol alone or in mixture as absorption agent. Possible water can be removed from the absorption agent by inert stripping gas before it is returned to the absorption column.
