摘要： A thermoset polyurethane composition having excellent impact and optical properties is prepared from a formulation comprising at least a prepolymer and a chain extender. The prepolymer includes an isocyanate component, containing 1,3-bis(isocyanatomethyl)cyclohexane and at least (20) percent by weight of 1,4-bis(isocyanatomethyl)cyclohexane, and an isocyanate-reactive component, containing hydroxyl, amine or thiol functionality. The isocyanate-reactive component includes from (70) to (95) percent by weight of a compound having a molecular weight from 150 to less than 950 Daltons, and from (5) to (30) percent by weight of a compound having a molecular weight from 2,000 to 4,500 Daltons. The chain extender is an aromatic, aliphatic, or cycloaliphatic polyamine compound containing at least one hydroxyl and/or thiol group. Articles that may be prepared include ophthalmic lenses, vehicle glazings, aircraft canopies, and the like.

摘要： The present invention provides bicomponent fibers, a method of producing bicomponent fibers, nonwoven materials comprising one or more such bicomponent fibers, and a method for making such nonwoven materials. The bicomponent fibers according to the present invention comprise (a) a first component comprising a polymeric material selected from the group consisting of polypropylene, polyester, and polyamide; and (b) a second component comprising a polyethylene composition comprising less than or equal to 100 percent by weight of the units derived from ethylene; and less than 20 percent by weight of units derived from one or more α-olefin comonomers; wherein the polyethylene composition has a density in the range of from 0.945 to 0. 965 g/cm 3 , a molecular weight distribution (M w /M n ) in the range of from 1.70 to 3.5, a melt index (I 2 ) in the range of from 0.2 to 150 g/10 minutes, a molecular weight distribution (M z /M w ) in the range of from less than 2.5, vinyl unsaturation in the range of from less than 0.1 vinyls per one thousand carbon atoms present in the backbone of said composition.

摘要： The instant invention provides a method for improving the bubble stability of a polyethylene composition suitable for blown film extrusion process. The method for improving the bubble stability of a polyethylene composition suitable for blown film extrusion process comprises the steps of: (1) providing a polyethylene composition having a density in the range of 0.900 g/cm 3 to 0.970 g/cm 3 and an relaxation spectrum index (RSI) value in the range of 10 to 100; (2) oxygen tailoring said polyethylene composition; (3) thereby forming an oxygen tailored polyethylene composition, wherein the RSI value of the said oxygen tailored polyethylene composition increases from 10% to 300% of its initial value; (4) thereby improving the bubble stability of said polyethylene composition.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide an apparatus or process for devolatilization of flowable materials (such as molten polymers with entrained or dissolved solvent or unreacted monomers or comonomers) using a plate heater having heating channels, the design or operation of which heating channels maintains the flowable material above its bubble point pressure during passage through a larger first zone and then induces flashing in, or downstream of, a smaller second zone of the heating channel. The apparatus enables a higher throughput per heating channel while achieving equivalent or better devolatilization, as compared to current devolatilization apparatus.

摘要： The invention provides a mixing system comprising the following: A) at least one extensional flow mixer comprising: a generally open and hollow body having a contoured outer surface and having: a single entrance port and a single exit port; a means for compressing a bulk stream flowing through the generally open and hollow body in a direction of flow, and at least one injected additive stream introduced at the single entrance port in the direction of flow; and a means for broadening the bulk stream and the at least one injected additive stream, such that an interfacial area between the bulk stream and the at least one injected additive stream is increased as the bulk stream and the at least one injected additive stream flow through the generally open and hollow body in the direction of flow to promote mixing of the bulk stream and the at least one injected additive stream; B) a flow conductor having an axis and having a generally open and hollow flow mixer body secured therein; and C) a primary additive stream injector positioned at the entrance port of the generally open and hollow flow mixer body, wherein the primary additive stream injector injects an additive stream into the interior of the flow mixer in the direction of flow, when the bulk stream is flowing through the generally open and hollow flow mixer body, to allow for compression and broadening of the bulk stream and the additive stream together within the extensional flow mixer, to facilitate mixing of the bulk stream and the primary additive stream at an exit of the extensional flow mixer; and wherein the extensional flow mixer is followed by D) at least one helical static mixing element that is at least one half "flow conductor diameter (D 1 )" downstream of the exit of the extensional flow mixer.
