摘要： The invention teaches a method of positioning a first image (10) having a first image format into a second image (30) comprising multiple image blocks (40) and having a second image format. A straight boundary (46) of at least one image block (40) in the second image (30) is identified. The first image (10) is positioned into the second image (30) by aligning an edge (16) of the first image with the identified straight boundary (46). Alternatively, a block row (22) or column (24) of the first image (10) can be aligned with the straight boundary (46) but then in such a way that an edge (16) of the first image parallel to the block row (22) or column (24) is aligned with a boundary of a row (42) or column (44) of image blocks (40) in the second image (30). This image positioning reduces any bleeding artifacts and the number of bits required for representing the image (30) during encoding.

摘要： A packet data communication network is probed with stuffed data inside the ordinary media streams to determine whether the network is capable of handling a higher bitrate before performing adaptive streaming to switch from a lower bitrate to a higher bitrate in order to avoid having to transmit actual streaming data from a lower bitrate to a higher bitrate first, determining that the network cannot handle the higher bitrate, and causing the server to switch back to the lower bitrate while providing varying video quality to the user.

摘要： The invention relates to media management and combats media degradations arising when transcoding the media (1OA, 30A). The invention solves this by- generating processing hints based on the media transcoding. The hints are employed for controlling a post-transcoding processing of the transcoded media content (1OB, 2OB, 30B) in connection with rendering the media. The hints and this controlled processing increases the user-perceived quality when rendering the media (1OC, 2OC, 30C) by mitigating the media degradations caused by the transcoding. The processing hints could specify how the actual transcoding was performed by including values of the employed transcoding parameters or information of the alterations to the media (1OB, 2OB, 30B) caused by transcoding. Furthermore, instructions or commands for appropriate post-transcoding processing could also be processing hints according to the invention.
