    • This present invention provides an apparaus for fluorscopic imaging and projection of an X-rayed struture. This apparatus includes an X-ray source (24) and an image intensifier (40) mounted on a common support (52). A range finder (38) associated with the image intensifier (40) determines distance from the image intensifier (40) to an object being X-rayed. A computer (60) receives data from the image intensifier (40) through a video capture card (62) and processes this data. A screen (64) associated with the computer (60) permits display of the captured X-ray image. Through interfacing with the computer (60), the user may then pinpoint, highlight or outline structures or other anatomy displayed by the X-ray image, as desited. A projector (e.g. a laser projector) (46) receives data corresponding to the outline, highlight or pinpoint delineated by the user, from the compture and projects a visual image (e.g. a laser image) onto the skin of the patient at the location of the X-rayed structure or anatomy.

    • The present invention is a system logic controller ("SLC") (24) specially adapted for reducing and regulating electrical power consumption by a personal computer ("PC") (10). The SLC (24) includes a plurality of power management registers located in a power management unit (128). When turning the computer (10) on, storage of data into one of the power management registers by a computer program executed by the CPU (12) causes the SLC (24) to broadcast data values to various power management registers. The data broadcast to these registers establishes a specified power management operating regime for the computer (10). The SLC (24) also monitors peripheral devices included in the computer (10) and transmits a system management interrupt to the CPU (12) if an operating peripheral device is to be turned off, or if a non-operating device is to be turned on because it is being accessed by a computer program executed by the CPU (12).
