    • The invention relates to a pointing device (8) able to generate commands for positioning a pointer (6) intended for a display device (2). The pointing device (8) comprising: an emitter (16, 28) able to emit an electromagnetic field (B1); a sensor (18) able to measure at least one amplitude value of the electromagnetic field (B1) emitted by the emitter (16), the sensor (18) and the emitter (16) being mobile with respect to one another; and a processing unit (20) suitable for producing commands for positioning the pointer (6) on the basis of each amplitude value of the electromagnetic field (B1) measured by the first sensor (18); the electromagnetic field (B1) emitted by the emitter (16) being invariant during the displacement of the emitter (16) with respect to the sensor (18). The invention also relates to a method of pointing, an emitter, a ring and a display device.
