    • The invention concerns a three-part can (1) for holding liquids, one end of the can body (2) being tightly closed by a fold (3) with a lid (4). A flat part (7) of the lid (4) is disposed in or axially outside an axially outer delimiting plane (9) of the fold (3). The lid is a partial ring-pull lid which has an elongate pull-tab region (11), on one side a pouring part (12) and, on the other side, a venting part (13), with an intermediate part (14) connecting these parts. Transversely to a longitudinal axis (17) of the pull-tab region (11), the intermediate part (14) is narrower than the maximum transverse dimensions of the pouring part (12) and of the venting part (13). The pouring part (12) extends to the vicinity of a radially outer edge (22) of the flat part (7).

    • A closure fitting is provided for a container which itself has no threads or equivalent closure securing means formed on it. The fitting, which can be pressed down over the mouth of a container, provides its own securing means by which a generally outer closure portion of the fitting can be removed from and resecured to a separable inner portion which remains attached to the container after opening. The closure fitting has a distendable conical hoop (22) moulded inside a surrounding skirt (20). Cooperating sets of threads, lugs, or the like (29, 28) are formed on the outer face of the hoop and on the inner face of the skirt. In the closure as formed, the closure securing means of the hoop and skirt do not operably engage one another. However, they are progressively brought into cooperating engagement as the hoop expands while the fitting is being press-fitted onto a container. The hoop is severably joined to the skirt; twisting or otherwise moving the closure portion in relation to the hoop in the first user operation breaks a separable connection (24) between the hoop and the skirt, so that the closure portion can be removed from the hoop. The closure portion can thereafter be used in the same manner as a conventional closure.
