摘要： A wireless communication unit (120) polls (200) a radio access point (110) at a certain frequency. The wireless communication unit (120) then determines (210) whether packets are received in response to the polling and determines (220) the percentage of polls resulting in receipt of packets. The wireless communication unit (120) then adjusts (230) the polling frequency to change the number of polls which result in the receipt of packets. Optionally, the wireless communication unit (120) repolls (240) the radio access point (110) when a packet in not received. Then, the wireless communication unit (120) plays (250) the packet at a certain time. Alternatively, the wireless communication unit (120) receives (310) packets without polling and determines (220) a radio access point frequency at which packets arrive at the radio access point (110). The polling frequency is then set (330) to approximately the radio access point frequency.

摘要： Various embodiments are described for facilitating network mobility in communication networks with an aim toward enhancing the scalability of MIP. Generally, in most of these embodiments, a network node (121) sends a message to a network device (131) to establish a data path for a remote unit (101) served by the network node. This message comprises a source link layer address which is associated with the remote unit. The message may or may not be sent in response to receiving signaling to facilitate wireless connectivity of a remote unit via the network node. In addition, the network device to which the message is sent may be an access router (AR) or a foreign agent (FA) of the remote unit.

摘要： An apparatus and method for efficient transitions between operating states in a communication network (100), includes a preliminary step of having a mobile station (118) in a Dormant or Idle state. A next step includes requiring a data transfer, either to or from the mobile station (118). A next step includes transitioning the mobile station (118) from the Dormant or Idle to an Active state. A next step includes transferring a bearer path context for the data from a Paging Control Function (PCF) (108) to an RF Bearer Function (110). This can include creating a tunnel using an Inter-PCF handoff procedure. The result is a direct connection between an RF Bearer Function (110) and an IP Router (106), without the PCF (108) being in the data path.
