    • In the polymerization of C3-C12- alpha -olefins, the activity of the catalyst and the isotacticity and molecular weight of the polymer product can be adjusted and improved in a controlled manner by a new process wherein: A) a catalyst system is prepared by bringing a support which comprises magnesium chloride, a derivative thereof or a reagent forming it into contact with at least titanium tetrachloride or a reagent forming it, in order to produce a titanated support; by bringing the titanated support into contact with at least a group 1, 2 or 13 metal compound which contains a C1-C10-alkyl and activates titanium tetrachloride to a catalytically active titanium group, in order to produce an activated support; and by bringing a substance selected from among the said support, titanated support and activated support into contact with at least one donor or a reagent forming it, in order to produce a catalyst system; B) polymerization is carried out using the catalyst system by bringing it into contact with at least a C3-C12- alpha -olefin, whereupon poly-C3-C12- alpha -olefin chains are formed in the catalytically active titanium groups, and preferably by bringing the said catalyst system, the said C3-C12- alpha -olefin and the said poly-C3-C12- alpha -olefin chains into contact with hydrogen or some other similar chain transfer agent, whereupon a poly-C3-C12- alpha -olefin terminated with hydrogen or suchlike is formed. In the process the improvement is achieved so that, in step A), i) a first controlled amount of a less soluble internal donor and a second controlled amount of a more soluble internal donor are provided on the surface of the said support, titanated support or activated support, in order to produce an internal donoration product, and ii) the internal donoration product is brought into contact with at least one eluant eluting the more soluble internal donor and with at least one external donor or a reagent forming it, in order to produce an external donoration product, the catalyst system thereby formed having at least catalytically active titanium groups, the said first controlled amount of the less soluble internal donor and the said second controlled amount comprising external donor.

    • A cable-sheating composition and its use as outer sheath for a power cable or a communication cable are disclosed. The cable-sheating composition is a multimodal, preferably bimodal, mixture of olefin polymers, preferably ethylene plastics, having a density of about 0.915-0.955 g/cm and a melt flow rate of about 0.1-0.3 g/10 min, said olefin polymer mixture comprising at least a first and a second olefin polymer, of which the first has a density and a melt flow rate selected from (a) about 0.930-0.975 g/cm and about 50-2000 g/10 min and (b) about 0.88-0.93 g/cm and about 0.1-0.8 g/10 min. Preferably, the olefin polymer mixture has been obtained by coordination-catalysed polymerisation of at least one alpha -olefin in several stages, preferably two stages consisting of a loop reactor/a gas-phase reactor or a gas-phase reactor/a gas-phase reactor, through polymerisation or copolymerisation of ethylene in the first stage and copolymerisation of ethylene with butene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, 1-hexene or 1-octene in the second stage.

    • Process for preparing an olefin polymerisation catalyst component in the form of particles having a predetermined size range, said process comprising the steps of a) preparing a solution of a complex of a Group 2 metal and an electron donor by reacting a compound of said metal with said electron donor or a precursor thereof in an organic liquid reaction medium; b) adding said solution of said complex to at least one compound of a transition material to produce an emulsion, the dispersed phase of which contains more than 50 mol% of the Group 2 metal in said complex; c) agitating the emulsion, optionally in the presence of an emulsion stabilizer, in order to maintain the droplets of said dispersed phase within the average size range 5 to 200 m; d) solidifying said droplets of the dispersed phase; and e) recovering the solidified particles of the olefin polymerisation catalyst component, wherein a turbulence minimizing agent (TMA) is added to the reaction mixture before solidifying said droplets of the dispersed phase, said TAM being inert and soluble in the reaction mixture under the reaction conditions.
