    • The invention concerns a precision clamping unit for an injection moulding machine with a machine bed on which are arranged a fixed and a slidingly guided mould clamping plate, and at least a drive for moving and/or locking the mould clamping plate. In order to obtain a precision clamping unit for an injection moulding machine which, by the use of partly known features and measures, makes it possible to design a machine for precision injection moulding, the sliding mould clamping plate (2) is guided on a precision linear guide (8) mounted securely and in a torsion-resistant manner on the machine bed (7), and two parallel ball spindles (6) are arranged symmetrically in a horizontal plane on either side of the central axis (A) of the mould clamping plate (2) and driven synchronously by a motor (3). By means of the ball spindles (6), the movable mould clamping unit can be displaced and/or the clamping force applied. A hydraulic motor (3) which acts on the ball spindles (6) is provided to drive and/or lock the movable mould clamping plate (2).
