Software code is provided for delaying the PN code a series of delays to form delayed PN samples, a sum of the series of delays being less than one chip-time. Software code is provided for summing the delayed PN samples with the PN code to form a summed sequence. Software code is provided for transmitting the summed PN sequence to the wire. Software code is provided for receiving a signal from the wire related to the summed PN sequence. Software code is provided for mixing the signal received from the wire with a delayed copy of the summed PN sequence so as to form a mixed signal. Software code is provided for integrating the mixed signal to map faults. Other embodiments also disclosed.

摘要： A magnetic bearing system (10) allows a movable body (12) to be positioned to a point of substantial equilibrium in an axial direction after a system shutdown. A sensor (22) measures the axial position of the movable body (12) to produce an displacement output. The output is then adjusted to account for a sensor offset (26). The adjustment is stored and can be used to position the movable body during regular operation of the system or when the system reboots or restarts. The adjustment displacement output is converted into a force for positioning the movable body (12). The movable body may be a rotor in a heart pump apparatus.

摘要： A pump for pumping sensitive fluids, such as blood, having no mechanical contact between the impeller and any other structure. The pump comprises a pump housing (4), an impeller (7) disposed within the pump housing, a magnetic bearing system (5, 6) for supporting and stabilizing the impeller (7) in five degrees of freedom, and a conformally shaped magnetically linked motor for rotating the impeller (7). The magnetic bearing system (5, 6) and motor advantageously comprise electromagnets and permanent magnets (18) for stability and control of the impeller (7) and to reduce size, weight and pump power consumption. Permanent magnets (18) and electromagnets are disposed on the pump housing (4) and permanent magnets (18) are disposed on the impeller (7) such that by controlling electric current through the electromagnets on the housing, the magnetically suspended impeller (7) functions as the rotor and the housing as the stator of a D.C. motor. The system advantageously allows for sensing of relative impeller position and dynamic properties without the need for additional sensors.
