    • A servo spot welding control system (10) and method to efficiently weld a pair of workpieces (12) together. The system includes a robot (14) movable about the workpieces (12), a weld gun (22), servomotors (30, 32), a transformer (46), and a controller (48). The weld gun (22) is mounted on the robot (14) and includes at least two pairs of electrodes (24). Each pair of electrodes (24) includes a stationary electrode (26) and a movable electrode (28). The servomotors (30, 32) are operatively connected to the movable electrodes (28). The controller (48) actuates the robot (14) to move the robot (14) into position. The controller (48) also actuates the servomotors (30, 32) to clamp the workpieces (12) and to selectively sequence electric current from the transformer (46) to form multiple spot welds on the workpieces (12).

    • A device for delivering a collimated beam of electromagnetic energy, such as a laser beam, including a focusing lens (22') supported within a first housing part (32') for rotation about a first axis (20') offset from a focal axis (23') of the lens, and for linear movement along the focal axis with respect to a second housing part (28').
