    • The invention aims at providing core/shell type nanoparticles which have high heat resistance and shape retentivity and contain as the core nanoparticles having specific particle diameters which were difficult of production. Such core/shell type nanoparticles can be produced by preparing aromatic nanoparticles through the polymerization of an aromatic compound such as trialkoxybenzene with an aldehyde, surface-modifying the nanoparticles with reactive functional groups, and introducing graft chains to the resulting nanoparticles by graft polymerization with the reactive functional groups used as the initiator or the terminator through ring-opening polymerization, vinyl polymerization or addition polymerization. For example, bromomethyl is used as the reactive functional group and the graft polymerization is conducted by ring-opening polymerization of oxazoline, or ARTP polymerization of acrylic acid derivatives, styrene, or the like with the bromomethyl used as the initiator. Thus, core/shell type nanoparticles wherein the aromatic nanoparticle constitutes the core and the graft chain constitutes the shell can be obtained.
