    • Fluid sensing systems and methods, including sensors used to sense various fluid levels in vehicles, are disclosed herein. One aspect of the invention is directed toward a method for sensing a fluid that includes passing electromagnetic radiation through a receptacle positioned to hold a fluid. The receptacle can be configured so that electromagnetic radiation that passes through portions of the receptacle containing fluid is focused. The method can further include determining (a) whether fluid is located in a selected portion of the receptacle based on an amount of electromagnetic radiation that impinges on at least one radiation sensor, (b) a characteristic of fluid located in the passageway of the selected portion based on a pattern of the electromagnetic radiation that is created on the at least one radiation sensor, or (c) both (a) and (b).

    • Methods and systems for managing novelty deeds are disclosed. One aspect of the invention is directed toward a method for generating income for a famous property that includes dividing the property into multiple interests, creating a novelty deed for each of the interests, and selling the novelty deeds to consumers. In certain embodiments, the novelty deeds can be valid for a predetermined time and invalid after the predetermined time has expired. Another aspect of the invention is directed toward a computer-implemented method for creating and managing novelty deeds that includes identifying multiple interests of a famous property, creating a novelty deed for each one of the multiple interests, and tracking the sale of the novelty deeds. The novelty deeds can be sold for a predetermined amount of money and/or can be valid for a predetermined time and invalid after the predetermined time has expired.

    • Aspects of the present invention are directed generally toward a graft for use with a blood flow device that allows the use of a single blood flow device to simultaneously provide blood flow to the systemic and pulmonary circulations. One aspect of the invention is directed toward a graft comprising a tubular inlet portion coupleable to the outlet of the blood-flow assist device and configured to receive a flow of blood therethrough. The graft has a tubular systemic portion connected the inlet portion and configured to be connected to the systemic circulation of the patient to direct the first portion of the blood flow into the systemic circulation at a first flow rate. The graft has a tubular pulmonary portion connected to the inlet portion and configured to be connected to the pulmonary circulation of the patient to direct a second portion of the blood flow into the pulmonary circulation substantially simultaneous with delivery of the first portion of the blood flow into the systemic circulation.

    • The present invention relates generally to atom probes, atom probe specimens, and associated methods. For example, certain aspects are directed toward methods for analyzing a portion of a specimen that includes selecting a region of interest and moving a portion of material in a border region proximate to the region of interest so that at least a portion of the region of interest protrudes relative to at least a portion of the border region. The method further includes analyzing a portion of the region of interest. Other aspects of the invention are directed toward a method for applying photonic energy in an atom probe process by passing photonic energy through a lens system separated from a photonic device and spaced apart from the photonic device. Yet other aspects of the invention are directed toward a method for reflecting photonic energy off an outer surface of an electrode onto a specimen.
