摘要： A containment device (10) for inserting between vertebral members in a patient provides a rapid implant solution adapted for use in different applications. The device includes an interior volume (20) to contain a curable substance at substantially atmospheric pressure. Upon filling the enclosure member with a curable substance, the enclosure member is able to conform to and maintain a space between vertebral members. The containment device includes an enclosure member (12) constructed of an impermeable material adapted to constrain migration of the curable substance. The enclosure member includes an exterior wall surrounding the interior volume and an opening (18) in the exterior wall. The containment device may include end members (22,24) that may be distracted to establish a desired vertebral spacing. Spacer members may be included to further maintain the desired spacing. Upon hardening of the curable substance, the device is capable of maintaining the desired spacing.

摘要： An expandable spinal implant (20) including at least two expandable branch portions (24,26) extending generally along a longitudinal axis (L) and each including a fixed end portion and an opposite movable end portion with the fixed end portions coupled together adjacent a base portion (28) of the implant. A first of the branch portions includes at least one transverse projection having opposite axially-facing outer surfaces (66). A second of the branch portions defines at least one transverse recess (64a) having opposing axially-facing inner surfaces (68). The transverse projection is positioned within and displacable along the transverse recess with the outer surfaces of the projection positioned in close proximity with the inner surfaces of the recess to provide structural support to the implant subsequent to expansion. In one embodiment, the branch portions are separated from one another by at least one slot (60) including a narrow portion that defines the close fitting transverse projection and transverse recess.
