    • A zero prediction method and apparatus for use in a reduced instruction set computer. The zero predictor (115) in use is connected by a controller (110) to an arithmetic unit (120). Different embodiments of the invention for use in addition include inverters (205) connected via incrementers (220) to comparators (235) for subtraction and comparators (235) for decrementation. The method includes determination (915) of which arithmetic operation to be performed, activation (925, 950 and 975) of a suitable zero prediction method for the operation along with the operation subtraction (930), addition (955) and decrementation (980). The device includes a watermark controller 12 which detects when material sought to be watermarked is present and provides a watermark to display 15 when such material has been deleted by fast forwarding or reversing during recording. Methods for accomplishing this procedure are shown, including the controller, in television receivers 14 and video recorders 20. A method 30 for detecting the presence of material such as advertisements and skipping is shown which adds a flag to indicate when such an event has occurred. The flag induces the inclusion of a watermark on the display or recording produced.

    • The apparatus described is a multi-core processor 505 adapted to provide digital to analog conversion. The method of the invention divides each word of an incoming digital stream of information into a most significant and least significant portions. In the later case, the instructions are placed in an instruction register (30a) when they are received and executed therefrom, without first placing the instructions first into memory. The instructions can include a micro-loop (100) which is capable of performing a series of operations repeatedly. In one application, the sleeping computer (12) is awakened by an input such that it commences an action that would otherwise have required an interrupt of an otherwise active computer.

    • A novel micro camera module that is manually adjustable between a close-up mode and an infinite mode includes a lens assembly adjustably mounted within a sleeve that is adjustably mounted into a housing. In a particular embodiment the sleeve includes a channel (cam groove) that is engaged by a plurality of pins fixed to the housing. Further, a biasing member is disposed between the sleeve and the housing such that an upward force will enable the pins to firmly engage the lower portion of the channel, hi a more particular embodiment, the channel defines two detents that secure the sleeve into predetermined positions with respect to the housing. In an even more particular embodiment, the channel is sloped such that upon rotation of the sleeve, the distance between the lens assembly and an image capture device is changed. In another particular embodiment, the camera module includes an electrical mode detecting switch that is indicative of the position of the camera module.
