    • A toothbrush handle includes a support structure formed of clarified polypropylene and a body formed of thermoplastic elastomer disposed on the support structure. The support structure includes a web having a thickness in a first direction orthogonal to an axis of the toothbrush handle of less than 2 millimeters and at least one rib depending from the web and having a thickness in a second direction, orthogonal to the axis and angled relative to the first direction, of less than about 2 millimeters. The body at least partially covers the web and the at least one rib. The handle has a light transmissivity of greater than 40% through a portion of the handle at which the body covers the web and the at least one rib.

    • An oral care implement comprises a handle having a container containing oral care fluid, A head includes tooth cleaning elements and a fluid outlet to output fluid into the vicinity thereof. A manually actuatable pump mechanism in the handle between the container and fluid outlet is connected thereto by respective first and second conduits. The pump mechanism comprises a chamber having an inlet connected to the first conduit, an outlet connected to the second conduit, and an actuatable valve mechanism for selectively opening the inlet and outlet respectively to cause fluid flow into and out of the chamber. The mechanism comprises first and second valve elements and a deformable actuator connected to the first and second valve elements. A wall which defines at least a part of the chamber is adapted to be manually moved to operate the valve mechanism.

    • An oral care system includes a dispenser comprising a product tube having a reservoir containing an oral care material and an outlet. In one embodiment, the dispenser may be configured for detachable coupling to a toothbrush. A compression device engages the product tube and pressurizes the tube contents. The oral care material may be dispensed by actuating a valve fluidly coupled to the reservoir and outlet. In one embodiment, actuating the valve includes a flow orifice movable into and out of a flow path through the dispenser. Oral care material may be dispensed by positioning the orifice in the flow path in which the pressurized material flows outwards the product tube. To stop the flow of oral care material, the orifice is removed from the flow path which blocks the path. An operating button is provided in one embodiment to change position of the flow orifice.

    • A powered toothbrush apparatus with capacitive touch control, which includes a head portion having an oscillating tuft block driven by a motor, a handle portion, and an elastically deformable capacitive touch control panel mounted in the handle portion. In one embodiment, the control panel includes movable sensor targets each paired with a corresponding capacitance sensor electrically connected to a programmable microprocessor. Applying finger pressure on the control panel adjacent a sensor target operates to change the capacitance of the respective sensor target- sensor pair. The microprocessor detects the change in capacitance, which may be used to control the motor speed for changing the oscillation rate of the tuft block. In one embodiment, a linear array of sensor targets- sensors is provided which is activated by a sliding finger or thumb motion across the array. A related operating method is disclosed.
