    • The present invention is an electrode with one or more conductive surfaces and one or more access windows allowing needles, lancets and other similar objects to pass through or near the electrode and into the underlying skin layer. The electrode adheres to skin and surrounding mild electrical and vibration stimulation acts to mask the pain signals caused when sharp objects penetrate the skin. The stimulation is delivered by an attachable electrical unit designed to generate both the TENS and vibration stimuli while connected to the electrode. In addition, a flap which is attached to the electrode may serve as a bandage type dressing by flipping down over the access window(s) once the procedure is done. The present invention is an electrode with one or more electrically isolated conductive surfaces coupled to a TENS and vibration generating unit. It is designed to allow access to underlying skin and is meant to be easily produced, with the electrode being disposable after each patient use.

    • The present invention provides a secure voice solution for the BlackBerry 9000 (BlackBerry Bold TM ) Rather than make encrypted voice calls through traditional GSM cellular phone calls, the present invention instead receives voice data from the user using the device microphone and built-in media player software in the device. This data is then encrypted and then sent as an IP packet. The device then receives, as IP packets, encrypted voice communication from the other party in the encrypted call, which in turn are decrypted in the device and then played back on a second media player running on the device. The present invention takes advantage of the device's ability to run two media players simultaneously to in effect, simulate a cellular telephone call. As a result, an encrypted call can be made with PDA-type devices such as the Blackberry® and also such calls can be made using different data paths (cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, or the like) as the calls are made by sending and receiving data over the Internet, not as traditional cellular data signals.

    • An RMS detector using first-order regressor with a variable smoothing factor is modified to penalize samples from center of data in order to obtain RMS values. Samples which vary greatly from the background noise levels are dampened in the RMS calculation. When background noise changes, the system will track the changes in background noise and include the changes in the calculation of the corrected RMS value. A minimum tracker tracks the minimum rms value, which is used to compute a normalized distance value, to normalize the smoothing factor. A corrected or revised RMS value is determined as the function of the previous RMS value multiplied by one minus the smoothing factor plus the smoothing factor times the minimum rms value to output the corrected RMS for the present invention. The rms value is used to generate a reset signal for the minimum tracker and is used to avoid deadlock in the tracker, for example, when the background signal increases/decreases over time.
