摘要： Generally, the present disclosure is directed to gas monitoring systems that use inductive power transfer to safely power an electrically passive device included within a nuclear material storage container. In particular, the electrically passive device can include an inductive power receiver for receiving inductive power transfer through a wall of the nuclear material storage container. The power received by the inductive power receiver can be used to power one or more sensors included in the device. Thus, the device is not required to include active power generation components such as, for example, a battery, that increase the risk of a spark igniting flammable gases within the container.

摘要： The present invention provides a method of explosively forming a helical tube from at least one thin-walled cylinder using a tooling assembly. The method includes inserting the at least one thin-walled cylinder into a die of the tooling assembly. The die surrounds the at least one thin-walled cylinder and includes an interior surface that defines a helical thread pattern. The method further includes surrounding the at least one thin-walled cylinder and the die with a casing of the tooling assembly. A cavity is defined by the casing and the thin-walled cylinder. The method further includes positioning an explosive charge within the cavity. The method additionally includes at least partially submerging the tooling assembly. The method further includes detonating the explosive charge. As a result, the at least one thin-walled cylinder is formed into a helical tube that corresponds with helical thread pattern of the interior surface of the die.

The housing may define a plate slot that extends heightwise within the housing between a top end and a bottom end. The housing may further include a plate access window that provides access to the bottom end of the plate slot. The collector may also include a collector plate configured to be installed within the plate slot that extends heightwise between a top edge and a bottom edge. Additionally, when the collector plate is installed within the plate slot, the bottom edge of the collector plate may be accessible from an exterior of the housing via the plate access window so as to allow the bottom edge of the collector plate to be moved relative to the housing to facilitate removal of the collector plate from the housing.

摘要： An electrochemical cell and methods of using the electrochemical cell are described that can be utilized for the recovery of metals from metal oxides. The cell includes a first electrode that includes a solid metal oxide, an electrolyte including an oxygen ion conductor, and a second electrode space apart from the electrolyte by an oxygen ion conducting membrane. Upon reduction of the metal oxide, solid metal is formed that replaces the metal oxide of the electrode and provides for simplified recovery of the metal from the metal oxide. The membrane protects the second electrode from corrosion and degradation from the electrolyte, increasing the life of the cell.

摘要： A system is provided for tamper identification. At least one fastener is used to seal a compartment or secure a device. The fastener has a tamper identification surface with a unique grain structure that is altered if the fastener is removed or otherwise exposed to sufficient torque. After a period of time such as e.g., shipment and/or storage of the sealed container, a determination of whether tampering has occurred can be undertaken by examining the grain structure to determine if it has changed since the fastener was used to seal the container or secure the device. Tools and other components specifically designed to alter the grain structure of the tamper identification surface may be employed. A variety of fastener types may be used, and the fastener may be configured with one or more materials more susceptible to alteration of the grain structure along the tamper identification surface so as to enhance the ability to determine tampering. Authentication is also provided.

A formation process can be carried out at ambient temperature and pressure and includes the deposition of metal ions on a titanate carrier according to a chemical deposition process followed by exposure of the metal ions to a reducing agent. Upon the exposure, nanoparticles of the reduced metal are formed that are adhered to the titanate carrier.
