    • An apparatus for treating air containing hydrogen gas which is used in a region such as a nuclear reactor housing vessel where hydrogen gas may be produced and accumulated and which can treat contained hydrogen quickly and safely. The treatment apparatus (30) which treats air containing hydrogen gas in a nuclear reactor housing vessel has a housing (31) which has an inlet (33) and an outlet (35) and in which an air passage is defined, a catalyst layer (37) which is provided in the air passage and a heater (39) which is provided in or near the catalyst layer. The catalyst layer is a catalyst plate or a catalyst honeycomb and is heated by an electric heater and activated. Hydrogen and oxygen in the hydrogen containing air which flows into the housing (31) through the inlet are re-combined by the contact with the catalyst layer and hence hydrogen gas can be eleminated from the air.
