摘要： Improvements in the high-temperature wash durability and discoloration levels for fabrics having topically applied silver-ion treatments (such as ion-exchange compounds, like zirconium phosphates, glasses and/or zeolites) are provided. Such solid compounds are generally susceptible to discoloration and, due to the solid nature thereof, are typically easy to remove from topical surface applications, particularly when laundered at elevated temperatures. The inventive treatment requires the presence of a specific cross-linked binder, either as a silver-ion overcoat or as a padded-on component of a cross-linked binder admixed with the silver-ion antimicrobial compound. In addition, specific metal halide additives (preferably substantially free from sodium ions) may be utilized to combat the discolorations typical of such silver-ion formulations. As a result, high-temperature wash durability, discoloration levels, or both, can be improved to the extent that after a substantial number of standard launderings and dryings, the inventive treatment does not wear away in any appreciable amount and the color of the treatment remains substantially the same as when first applied. The particular treatment method, as well as the treated fabrics are also encompassed within this invention.

摘要： Typical road surfaces are concrete, and gravel filled asphalt. They are very abrasive to fabrics that slide on those surfaces. For the new side impact curtain-type airbag, in a rollover situation, the airbag needs to protect the occupant from directly contacting the road hazard and should not deflate quickly or break when sliding on such road surfaces. We have found that a layer of elastomer can provide much better abrasion resistance than a layer of heavy industrial fabric. A Jacquard bag coated with 1.2 oz/yd2 polyurethane showed significant increase in air leakage rate after 5 cycles of concrete sliding abrasion. A 3 mil thick polyurethane film was laminated to the coated Jacquard woven airbag. After 110 cycles of sliding abrasion using the same concrete, no visual damage or change in bag leakage was observed. This finding indicates surprisingly better abrasion resistance of a thin elastomer film than a heavy industrial fabric.

The compositions further contain a polyurethane containing blocked isocyanate groups. They are useful for treating fiber materials, especially textile sheet materials, and can be applied thereto in the form of aqueous solutions or dispersions. Textiles which are 50 to 100 % by weight wool and have been finished with the compositions exhibit low shrinkage and low felting tendency during washing operations and also a pleasant, soft hand.
